These strawberrylicious rolls with a cream cheese icing make the most delicious breakfast for your special day! These rolls are loaded with tons of flavors from natural strawberries.
These rolls are just like cinnamon rolls but there is no cinnamon at all. The strawberries are in the dough as well as in the filling, and with a cream cheese icing these rolls have top notch flavors that you’ll love to go for seconds.
Like the name suggests there are strawberries and cream in the dough. Heavy cream is used instead of butter. Whenever I have some heavy cream leftover after making my soups or paneer curries, I use it to make rolls or breads.
Strawberry powder is used in this recipe. Fresh strawberries are rich in water and it would add too much liquid to the dough. It is convenient to use freeze-dried strawberries in baking as that gives the flavor naturally, like in these Strawberry Ombre Pancakes.
Strawberry jam is used as the filling in these rolls adding to the strawberrylicious flavors in these rolls. Fresh homemade or store-bought strawberry jam can be used.
The sugar content is a little high in these rolls, so give ample time for the dough to prove and double in size. It may take a little longer than an hour to two hours depending the weather. For the second proving too, let it double and then bake. This ensures softer rolls.
These rolls have a cream cheese icing on top and that makes it heavenly. It is optional but I highly recommend it. It is like having sweet strawberry rolls and cheesecake and that sounds delicious. Sometimes, I drizzle strawberry or sugar glaze. Strawberries and cream (and cream cheese) are the most loved and delicious flavor pairing. That makes rolls extra special for extra special days.
Valentine’s Day is here and make these rolls for the special day. These rolls can be made ahead which makes life easier to celebrate and have fun on special occasions. When serving, pop the rolls for a quick 12-15 seconds run in the microwave and they are ready as if they are just right out of the oven. Life gets simpler with these delicious rolls!
